Smith Family Movie Album

Not all the historic documents are old newspaper clippings. Here some old home movies.

Most were taken by Maxine L Smith (was Keller) in the silent 8mm and later super-8mm formats. Maxine kept good records of the scenes and of the people in them. Lincoln D. Smith, Kirby J. Smith and Brian R. Smith can be heard reading these notes and, yes, adding additional comments about the scenes as they fly past. Editor's note: Often the audio commentary will still be talking about the previous scene when the current clip starts or still be talking when the next scene starts. Enjoy!

1963 Easter Smith Family Easter reunion at Smith Bros. Fish Shanty The Smith Family gets together for Easter in 1963. Where? Well, the Smith Bros. Fish Shanty restaurant in Port Washington, Wisconsin, of course! This clip includes a great pan of many of the "cousins".

The backdrop for this scene is the black and white photo of the tug Oliver H. Smith coming back to port being followed by a "swarm of air rats" (seagulls) looking for a free lunch. If I am not mistaken this is the same photo that was used in the Milwaukee Journal's article entitled Boatloads of Chubs Head for Dinner Table.
